This Wednesday we begin a 40-day walk that prepares our hearts for Easter Sunday.  It is a time to repent - or turn toward God and shift our focus from the things of this world.  Some give up something that holds their focus away from God.  Some add works of charity and mercy to their daily routine.  And, others may add to their reading of Scripture or commit to a small group or spiritual practice.  All of this reminds us of the 40 days that Jesus spent fasting in the wilderness in preparation for His time in ministry to the world and the sacrifice he will make for all.

After Ash Wednesday we invite you to join others who will be doing the reflective work of Lent.  Join a Bible study or Spirtual Development small group to prepare yourself for the remembrance of Christ's resurrection and the continued work the Broadway will do to share in the work on God's Kingdom on earth.

A new church building, located at the corner of Madison (First Street) and Broadway, on land given to the Methodist Church by Henry DeLong, a one-time gambler at the Ocean Wave Saloon. After serving in the Civil War and earning money by washing his fellow soldiers' clothes and after experiencing a spiritual awakening, Henry DeLong bought the land on which the saloon once stood. His request was that the land always be the home of the church. During his long life as a church member and a circuit preacher, he served the community by establishing two missions to serve the children of the city.

This first quarter of 2025 we have been supporting the good work done by Philip's Cupboard.  We are so grateful for the ways you have stepped up to provide their requested items or given financial help the last couple of months.

Your gifts may be left in the shopping cart outside the office.  Monetary gifts are also helpful.  Cash or checks can be left in the offering or brought to the church office.  Be sure to designate your check or envelope for Philip's Cupboard.  Envelopes can be found at the Opportunities Desk in the Welcome Center.
