Holy Week at Broadway United Methodist
First, let me apologize for sending your Spire a day late. We have been busy getting the plans together for this next week and I wanted to make sure you have the best information to share.
This issue we are focusing on the events of the coming week and sharing some things to look forward to following Easter.
Holy Week begins this coming Sunday (April 13th) with Palm Sunday. We will be worshiping at our usual Sunday morning time of 8:30 & 10:30 AM with coffee and refreshments at 9:30. There will be palms to wave as we join together in songs welcoming Jesus to the holy city.
On Good Friday (April 18th)
6:30 PM in the Sanctuary
Shattering Our Assumptions
We remember The Passion of Christ through readings, song, and the extinguishing of candles.

Baking and Making Bread Together
So we know how many ingredients to prepare, lease click the link to RSVP or sign up at the Welcome Center desk on Sunday. On Thursday, bring a mixing bowl with to take your dough home for baking.

On Saturday (April 19th) Aliyah will bring a brief reflection and prayer to our online space. We are encouraged to find Silence in Our Brokenness. Find the reflection at
Sunday worship and Good Friday's service will be streamed online at broadwayunitedmethodist.com or facebook.com/broadwayunitedmethodist. Thursday we will share photos and the recipe for Pastor Brian's bread in next week's Spire and through social media.
The Sanctuary will be open on Good Friday from 12-6 PM and Holy Saturday from 12-3 PM for personal prayer time and reflections on The Stations of the Cross.
Easter Sunday
April 20, 2025
On Easter we shout our Hallelujahs to remember that death does not win. Join us for your favorite Easter songs and scripture and a message of hope and joy. We will share in Communion at both services where all are welcome and invited to God's table of grace.
8:30 AM - Traditional Style with organ, and hymns in the Sanctuary
9:30 AM - Coffee with Friends in the DeLong Lounge
10:30 AM - Contemporary Praise Worship. Join the Praise Band in singing songs of life and resurrection.
Sunday School begins in 10:30 Worship. After a special Children's Message, the kids are invited to follow Carey and her volunteers for some special activities. There is nursery available all morning for toddlers and preschoolers. Yet, we welcome kids and youth in worship
The 5 PM Spiritual Practices group and 6 PM Student Life Ministries will NOT meet on Easter. We invite you to join them when they resume on Sunday the 27th.
If you were with us last week, you noticed invitation postcards inside your bulletin. If you find someone looking for a place to worship this week, having a card is an easy way to offer the invitation to join us for any or our Holy Week and Easter worship events. If you missed them or need extras, there are more at the Opportunities Desk in the Welcome Center. Take as many as you need.
Easter Lily Memorials
You will not be disappointed with the lily arrangement. Garry and Toni will again find lilies and have them in the Sanctuary to greet you Easter morning.
If you would like to leave a gift for the cost of lilies in memory or in honor of your loved ones, please complete the yellow form in the bulletin this week. You can also let us know by emailing: Your Name(s), and the Name(s) of Your Loved One and indicate if this is in memory or in honor of them. We will list the memorial inside the Easter Sunday bulletin and in Spire.
We suggest a donation of $10 but welcome any gift. You can leave your check with the form in the Sunday offering or make your gift to the Easter Flower Fund online and then contact us with your information.
Philip's Cupboard Partnership Update

Philip’s Cupboard would like to thank everyone for both the monetary and many product donations during the first quarter. Your generosity is so appreciated not only by the Philip’s Cupboard volunteers but also the clients we serve. Take a look at at just some of what you have done for our community partner.
In March Philip’s Cupboard had 122 families visit their store totaling 315 people receiving assistance with cleaning and hygiene supplies.
Save These Dates
April 27 - Confirmation Sunday
On Sunday April 27 we will be welcoming youth from the Confirmation Class into membership with Broadway UMC. Eleven youth are currently meeting weekly with Pastor Brian to learn more about Broadway and The United Methodist Church. Confirmation classes allow students to discern the next step in their faith journey. Our new members will be introduced at the end of 8:30 worship and confirmed during 10:30 service. You will also have the opportunity to meet and welcome them at 9:30 coffee hour.
Stack Up the Yum With BUMC Youth
Save the date for Broadway Student Life Youth Pancake Feed on May 4th starting at 12 noon in the Fellowship Hall. This is a great opportunity to talk with our youth about Summer Games University and how the experience has impacted those who have attended in past years. There will be a free will offering available, but mostly our youth are excited to serve you and share their stories.
Outreach Through Celebrate CB
For the first time in several years, Broadway is planning to be present in this year’s Celebrate CB events. We are planning to walk together in the parade that will be held on Saturday May 10th. As we find out more we will share how you can walk with us or be at our table in Bayliss Park later in the day.
We are seeking donations to help us. Our Outreach Team would like a 6' foldable and lightweight table dedicated for this team’s use. If you have a gently used table around you no longer need, we would be happy to rehome it. Please check with us before bringing it. We appreciate everyone’s zeal and generosity, we just don’t know where we would store more than one.
We would also appreciate donations of candy to pass out at both the parade and in the park. Please consider treats that don’t melt easily. Thank you.
