Celebrating Our New Confirmed Members

In the Methodist tradition we understand baptism as an act of God's prevenient grace - the grace that God gives to everyone, regardless of their actions, beliefs, or anything else. Before we do anything, we are made in the image of God!

That is why we baptize infants. It is a reminder that before they choose anything for themselves, they are already God's. When we baptize infants parents/guardians, God parents, and the entire congregation take responsibility for surrounding the child with a community of love and faith, that they might grow to know God for themselves.

Confirmation is the moment when those children, now young people, choose to confirm the commitments made by others at their baptisms, taking them on for themselves. The 10 young people who chose to take this step at Broadway United Methodist Church in 2025 have agreed to continue seeking after God and growing in the ways that lead to abundant life, for themselves, this congregation, and the world which we are called to serve!

Baptism Held for Confirmand

Quinn Reese

April 27th at 8:30 AM surrounded by her family, her fellow confirmands, and the rest of the church we witnessed Quinn’s baptism. Later that day Quinn was welcomed into full membership with the rest of her confirmation class.

With God's help we will proclaim the good news

and live according to the example of Christ.

We will surround Quinn

with a community of love and forgiveness,

that she may grow in her trust of God,

and be found faithful in her service to others.

We will pray for her,

that she may be true disciples

who walk in the way that leads to life.

Good Friday Worship Through Reflections

Throughout the season of Lent we have used mirrors to help us “reflect” on who we have been, who we are, and who God is calling us to be as followers of Christ. On Good Friday, as we read through each piece of the story of Jesus’ betrayal, persecution, humiliation, abandonment, torture, and execution, Pastor Brian wrote phrases from each scripture that reflected our own brokenness along that path - “Who are you?”, “Easier that one man should die”, “He struck him”, “I am not”, “We have no God but Caesar”, “It is not lawful that we should execute him”, Crucify him”, and so on. At the end of the evening, as Jesus breathed his last, the mirror, our reflection of God, was shattered, wrapped in a cloth, and carried away.

Student Life Youth Ready to Serve Up Some Yum

Support Broadway Student Life Youth and their desire to attend Summer Games together.

If you would like to help but are unable to attend you can donate by leaving a check or envelope designated for "Summer Games" or give online. If you are interested in sponsoring a camper talk with Pastor Brian or Shane Coffey.

Outreach Through Celebrate CB

Parade and Bayliss Park Activities - May 10th

Join the parade with your family at Broadway!!! At the Celebrate CB parade, we will carry a banner and pass out candy on the parade route. Then, we will set up a table with Broadway merch at Bayliss Park. Steve will be holding drawings for bicycles in the park and we will be there to meet and talk with our neighbors.

What a great opportunity to get out of the building and show our community who we are! We would love to have you walk the parade or visit with our neighbors at Bayliss Park in the afternoon. Sign up below or in the Welcome Center on Sunday.

Communications Policy

Earlier this year, Teresa and volunteers and staff who help with communications worked to develop a policy for church communications. This was shared with Broadway's Single Board and was approved with the knowledge that as we progressed there may be additions to the policy.

Care and Share May Request

The requested food donation for May is canned fruit like pears, peaches, mixed fruit, mandarin oranges, pineapple, applesauce. It is best if the fruit is in cans and not glass containers please. We appreciate your ongoing support of our food pantries!

April Trivia Contest

Who designed the stained glass in the door frame at the entrance from 1st Street?

Hint: The designer once owned a stained glass gallery in the neighborhood.
