Care Team Update

Pastor Patti Ford, Director, Caring Congregation Team

We continue to have exciting things happening with the Broadway Caring Congregation Team. We currently have 26 members that we have on our list. We visit, send cards, give communion, and pray with and for these individuals that are homebound, lonely, on hospice, fighting diseases, or receiving chemo or radiation. Our team meets monthly to share who each of us have interacted with during the last 30 days.

The team does not want to have any of our church family fall through the cracks. Please contact Pastor Patti or the church office if you have a friend or loved one you would like us to add to our caring congregation list.

If you would like to become part of this ministry, please contact Pastor Patti or the church office.

Note: If you cannot attend the meetings but would like to particpate by writing cards or making phone calls, let Pastor Patti know.

Caring for each other is an important part of church. By supporting Broadway's General Budget we are able to continue to be the community for folks who are no longer able to be with us in person.

Parent to Parent Under God Update

After their initial meeting the Parent to Parent Under God group will meet on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month from 10-11:30am

Are you experiencing a lot of anxiety and worry as a parent? You are not alone. Join us for Parent to Parent at Broadway United Methodist Church. You do not need to be a member to join us as this is open to the community.

If you’d like to join, please purchase the book and read the first chapter! If you’d prefer the church purchase one for you, let us know before Sunday, May 11.

Bonus Material: You’re welcome to also purchase the workbook, if you’d like your own as we’ll use it to form our discussions and each week will be provided.

Monthly Trivia

April Update - Congratulations to Emily Billings who was chosen from the correct answers to the April question. The answer to who designed and made the stained glass windows at the first street entrance was Ed Duff, a local stained glass artist who owned a studio near the church.

Emily will be able to pick from the t-shirts we have in inventory or choose from the online store after we open it again.

May Trivia Question - In what year was the education wing added?

Leave your answers on the form found in the Welcome Center and place it in the basket.

Foundations Summer Break

Foundations Ministries will soon begin its summer pause. The Bells completed their final rehearsal last night and will provide special music this Sunday, concluding their 2024-2025 season. The Choir will rehearse once more on May 14th and sing on May 18th. The Women's Bible Study will finish their current study on May 14th. Wednesday Foundations Meal and Groups for Children, Youth, and adults will have its last meeting before the summer on May 21st.

Foundations Ministries will resume after Labor Day.

In the meantime, we invite you to bring your friends and join us at some of our summer groups and offerings.

Meditation and Centering Prayer

Wednesdays from 5-6 PM

You are invited to join as we focus on meditation and centering prayer that connects us to our God, stills our souls, and renews our hearts.

Potluck and Praise

Wednesdays June 4 and July 16 at 6:00 PM

We meet at the shelter side of Big Lake Park for a potluck dinner. After we eat, kids play while the adults spend time together talking and sharing.

Popsicles in the Park

Wednesay June 11th at 6:00 PM

Meet us at the Splash Pad at Fairmount Park.

Ms. Carey will bring the popsicles you bring the kids.

Student Life Youth Car Wash

Wednesday June 18th on the church parking lot

As plans develop, we will let you know when and where to meet us. You will need to purchase tickets at the gate.

Communications Policy

Earlier this year, Teresa and volunteers and staff who help with communications worked to develop a policy for church communications. This was shared with Broadway's Single Board and was approved with the knowledge that as we progressed there may be additions to the policy.

Care and Share May Request

The requested food donation for May is canned fruit like pears, peaches, mixed fruit, mandarin oranges, pineapple, applesauce. It is best if the fruit is in cans and not glass containers please. We appreciate your ongoing support of our food pantries!
